Is Life Coaching Therapy?
Coaching is a completely confidential process where the coach will ask you a number of questions about the area of your life where you would like to see change.
Coaching is based on the principle that you have the answers inside you and coaching is about discovering these answers. I will do this by asking you (sometimes) challenging questions. A coach does not give advice because a coach believes that all you already have the answers. A coach will however support and motivate you all the way. The ultimate goal is for you to learn for yourself how to set goals and continue to do so for the rest of your life.
Did you know that only 3% of people set goals in their life? But research has shown that they are also some of the most successful and happy people!
When you think about it coaching is not expensive. I see it as an investment in YOU. I thought like you before I had my first coaching session. But I did spend the money and I think it is the best money I have ever spent.
Having coaching has changed my life and I am now finally doing something I love doing!
I am not going to say that everyone needs coaching because that would not be true.
I have found that coaching has helped me overcome blocks that I was not even aware of and has helped me achieve goals that I had previously put of again and again.
Coaching helps you increase your awareness about you, your beliefs and your values. You may even realise that you have beliefs which are no longer valid for you, because you have never questioned them. Coaching helps you with this process and helps you to overcome these blocks so you can move on with your life.
Everyone is different so everyone will have a different number of sessions. However from my experience I think clients will benefit the most from having six sessions.
Generally speaking you initially have the first three sessions two weeks apart and then, depending on the amount of actions you come away with, the other three a month apart. Some clients come back again and again and some clients are happy to work with goals on their own.
Some clients only have one (paid) session! It also depends on what you want to work on.
No. Therapy addresses an individual’s possible dysfunction. Life Coaching is about making a person successful and happy.
