How to have the perfect start to the New Year!

Another new year! Did you also start this year with lots of good intentions? Intentions to lose weight, to be fitter, to see your relatives more regularly? Are you still keeping up with your resolutions but are you secretly worried that you might not last the distance? I have been thinking about this for the last week and here are a few helpful tips to keep you going on that track:

Look back at last year

Have a look back at last year. What happened when you set yourself those goals/ good intentions last year. Did they work? Well done you. Ask yourself the question why they did work, and vice versa. Did they not work? Why did they not work? Don’t give up, work out why they did not work and try something new.

Celebrate your achievements

Now is the time to look back on last year and write down all your achievements of last year. Don’t be modest, I know you have achieved a lot. Just write them all down, you will be amazed at how much you have achieved and how good it will make you feel having them written down. Keep the notes with you and when you get frustrated working on a new goal, look at the notes and remind you how much you have done.

Forgive yourself

There probably are some things that did not work. Have a look at these goals/intentions. Can you tell why they did not work? Don’t hold on to them, learn from them, let them go and forgive yourself. Holding on to these things can cost a lot of energy and you need all your energy to work on your new goals!

Once you have done all the above you are ready to start working on your new goals and make a new start with 2011. Good luck!
